Receptor partnerships

How ligand-dependent nuclear receptor self and partner (heterodimer) interactions create distinct pharmacological responses.

Many nuclear receptors work with a partner. We study how receptor–receptor interactions contribute to ligand-dependent regulation, with a particular interest in RXR heterodimers.

Our published work on Nurr1–RXRα and related NR4A–RXR complexes explores how ligands acting on RXR can influence the activity of a partner receptor. Integrating molecular and functional measurements helps distinguish mechanisms that are not apparent from transcriptional activity alone.
